About the death of Dr. Martin Drahmann

It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend Martin Drahmann. He passed away in San Francisco on January 30, 2019.

Shortly after beginning his research stay at the University of California (Berkeley), Martin received emergency medical care due to cardiac arrest and then further medical attention at a globally renowned hospital in San Francisco. After an initial stabilization, Martin’s condition declined, so much so that a heart transplant could not be performed due to his critical overall condition. Martin died peacefully surrounded by his wife and closest relatives.

Our grief is indescribable but cannot be compared to what Martin’s wife and family and all their relatives are currently going through. In our thoughts, we are closely connected with all those affected. We hope that ways may open up to deal with the painful void Martin Drahmann leaves behind.

In great sadness, but also with gratitude for everything we associate with Martin Drahmann, an extraordinary person, and in the hope that death will not be the last word,

the closest circle of colleagues
